About the Artist
Daniel Bulimar Henciu is a painter whose reputation continues to grow on the international art scene. With nearly two decades of experience, Henciu has distinguished himself through notable exhibitions, including those at galleries in London (Newartgallery, 2011), the Romanian Parliament Palace (2012, 2014), and galleries in the Netherlands, Italy, and Japan. His works are part of renowned private collections, including prestigious names such as Piero Ferrari and Romanian businessman Silviu Prigoană. Additionally, clinics and numerous businesses in Romania have fully decorated their spaces with his works, bringing a generous touch of modern refinement through the vibrant beauty of his unique style.
Artistic Training
His beginnings in painting date back to 2005, when he was experimenting without a clear direction in art. Through a stroke of fate, he was inspired by the appreciation of an American artist to continue on this path. This unexpected encounter permanently opened his horizons towards painting, and since then his artistic exploration began.
Henciu consolidated his artistic knowledge at the Faculty of Arts and Design of the West University of Timișoara, where he completed both his undergraduate and master's degrees in painting.
He has gone through all existing styles, all major movements, and numerous artistic techniques until reaching the present moment, where he has developed and continues to develop his own techniques in his distinctive, unique style, specific to Daniel Bulimar Henciu.
As a determined self-taught artist, inspired by the great movements and masters of art, he expands his creative horizons. With an ever-present curiosity, he experiments and innovates, seeking to push the boundaries of what has already been discovered, thus bringing a personal touch and fresh breath with each created work.
Unique Style and Technique
Daniel Bulimar Henciu's paintings are a combination of Synthetic Cubism, Impressionism, and Expressionism. His refined technique includes gestural applications of acrylic paint on canvas, often carefully blended to mimic the intensity of oil colors. Avoiding common effects like dripping, he prefers to capture the subtleties of movement and create an intimate connection with the viewer through fingerprints, brushwork, and textural plays achieved through knife and markers. Additionally, Henciu develops his own methods and keeps some techniques secret, bringing an element of mystery and exclusivity to his art.
Themes and Artistic Message
His works are designed to transport the viewer into a world of dynamism and imagination. "All my paintings are in motion, none is static," states Henciu, wanting viewers to use their imagination and enter the universe of his paintings. Influenced by artists like Joan Miró, Gerhard Richter, and Adrian Ghenie, Henciu explores themes from abstract expressionism to conceptualism. With subtleties from Dadaism and innovations inspired by diverse styles, he creates a visual language through which art becomes an experience, not just a sight.
Vision and Representative Quotes
With a bold vision and boundless ambition, Daniel Bulimar Henciu views art as a divine gift. As he himself confesses: "Painting is like a divine gift, shaping forms, shadows, and lights, emanating life when you look at it." In a world where art is continuously evolving, Henciu aims to bring something unique with each work – a piece in motion that introduces viewers into a space of personal exploration and freedom of imagination.
