About the Artist
With an artistic career spanning nearly three decades, Andreea Apăvăloaei has become a well-known name in both Romanian and International art scenes. Her works, recognized for their vibrant expressiveness and distinct elegance, can be found in private and public collections throughout Romania and Europe. Over 900 active pieces on the market bear Andreea Apăvăloaei's signature, an undeniable number that confirms her artistic talent and competence. Among her notable exhibitions are those at the National Museum of Archaeology in Bucharest, Staatliche Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Stuttgart, and Bath University - Bornemounth in England. One of her significant achievements was a successful collaboration with a pharmaceutical company, for which she created a series of 500 works dedicated to medical professionals, a large-scale project that reflects the public's appreciation for her unique works.
Artistic Training
Andreea began her artistic training at the "Victor Brauner" Art High School in Piatra-NeamÈ›. She then continued her studies at the National University of Arts Bucharest, where she obtained a master's degree in Visual Arts. She started painting at an early age, and her professional journey has been enriched by the influences of numerous masters. However, the greatest contribution to the formation of her style, considered by connoisseurs as "refined, clean, and distinctly elegant," is her own assiduous dedication. Through this self-taught and purely intuitive process, coupled with formal training, Andreea has perfected her unique and unmistakable technique.
Style and Technique
Andreea is recognized for her use of layering and gesturalism techniques, which give her paintings a sense of movement and emotional depth. Her works are a balance of color and texture, with subtle glazing providing a note of elegance and refinement. Over the years, the artist has integrated mosaic elements and diaphanous foils to add a unique tactile and visual dimension to her compositions.
Themes and Work Periods
Andreea's themes focus on the idea of beauty, joy, and positive emotions. Through each work, the artist aims to bring a splash of color and an element of energy into a space, a beacon of visual exuberance that resonates with the viewer's emotional states. Andreea defines painting as "active meditation," where each brushstroke is an expression of inner searching and a subtle connection with the world.
Influences and Inspirations
Andreea feels inspired by the simplicity and essence of Grigorescu's style, as well as the force and spontaneity of the expressionist movement. These influences are reflected in the simplicity of her compositions and in the energetic color palette she uses, shaping an aesthetic that unites traditional elegance with modern expressiveness.
Vision for the Future
For Andreea, art is "like water, pure and nourishing to the spirit." She will continue to create works that inspire, bring joy, and enrich the lives of viewers. In her words:
"People aren't looking for a thing, an object. Often, they don't even know what they're looking for. 'I want a splash of color,' most of my clients say. In fact, they want a splash of color in their lives, then in their homes. Something positive, something that vibrates there, an exuberant, vivacious emotional landmark."
